My dvd player will not play standard SVCDs, but it will let me play SVCDs that I have run through VCDgear (to change the header info to vcd). I am now in the situation that I need to pull a couple of files back off of my burned disks.

Is there a way to change the header info on these files back to svcd so I can burn them as svcd?

can you post a step-by-step to fake the header info for svcd mpegs to make the dvd player think it's a vcd mpeg?? Thanks!

NP Please note that this will not work for all players. There is a list of compatible players in the guides under Modified Header Trick (or something like that).

All you do is take a regular svcd and run it through vcdgear (available at www.vcdgear.com). Choose the mpg to mpg (or mpg to bin) mode and check toast compatible output (found in the options on the OSX version - on the main screen in OS9 version). Select where you want your file saved (don't save over your file - you may want to experiment) and hit start. The file often doesn't like to play right on your computer, but will when you burn it (if your player supports this method).

    Best of Luck

  4. I downloaded VCDgearX but am having problems with it. When I select the source MPG and destination folder, check toast compatible output, and try to convert, the terminal output says it can't find VCDgearX1.6e

    Any ideas?

Haven't run into that problem myself. It may just be that you need the newest version. Strange as it may sound I have had better luck using the classic version of vcdgear (less problem output files).
