    Hello All You Advanced/Advancing moviemakers: I had a brief education about getting movies off the net and now can not find the pieces to the puzzle to go on.

    Basically I was told about dowloading from the movies newsgroups and obtaining these large dat files. Then I was told that I needed to install divx codec, and possibly upgrade to WMP 7.1. I accomplished all these task, yet I do get that error that wmp does not support this video format. It seems clear now that WMP will not play a dat file without some conversion. Possibly more things are going on than I know - after all, I am a newbie. Any direction is greatly appreciated. See you at the movies.
