    I need a quick way to make divx, I ripped the dvd ok, I made my first divx (I think)but it was 1 gig with crappy video.

    That's 'cause div-x sucks. I've tweaked a lot with it and gotten moderate results at best. Make sure you use a variable bit rate and I find that the old div-x works better than mpeg-4. I also use a program called nandub which is a virtualdub variant which has better control over your div-x options.
