Toast Video CD but SVCD -VCD

I burned one of my footage from my camera, first I used Imovie to extract the movie part I wanted and then saved from there to Toast Vide CD... My
Hitachi DV-P315U played just fine (no sound, dont know why). For some reason My dvd player (Hitachi DV-P315U) will not play my SVCD(dont think it will play SVCD) nor VCD I download from the internet which is supposed to play (VCD at least) Is there any way to play SVCD or VCD on my Hitachi DV-P315U, if Yes what should I do? how should I burn?
