  1. I am trying to lower the bitrate of a VBR SVCD (the DVD player i want it to work on wont play SVCDs with high bitrates). This is the first time I have tried this and when I attempt to convert (in TMPEnc of course) the audio gets out of sync. The fps is set the same as the original, I have tried ripping the audio and encoding them seperatly. I'm not sure what the average bitrate is on the SVCD, TMPEnc says 2400, Adobe Premier says 340. I am trying to make an SVCD with a CBR of 1950.

well if anyone knows whats going on here or has had this problem any help would be great.

It happened to me yesterday. I suspect that when the video bitrates get to be borderline low, it will go out of sync with the video. Upping the bitrates, and the video sync is fine again.

Anyhoo, if your DVD player recognizes SVCD, the you should be able to comforatably set the bitrate to 2300. I suspect that it's another setting that's throwing you off. Don't sacrifice for lower bitrates. If so, then go to VCD.......

  3. I've tried converting to VCD, still an audio sync problem.. also with higher bitrates. The File is The Two Towers TDi cd1 (still having trouble like from my other post).. maybe i'll just record it to VHS or something.

As far as audio sync goes, the quick answer is capture PCM 41000khz 16-bit. Anything else, and it's your own fault. Unfortunately there's too many variables for sync. issues. Use the search engine...

Have you tried an .AVI playback (like divx)?? That's not the best answer, but it's a first step in determining where it's coming from.....I'm assuming you're not capturing from an on board sound card........
