If I capture my home videos to avi then edit them and trancode them to Mpeg2 for a DVD but then find another part I want to add ,if I add it then re-transcode to mpeg2 again would there be a big quality loss? Or is it better to keep everything as an Avi until you are SURE you are finished? Just that way would take a lot of space.

    Thanks Joey[/b]

The idea would be to encode as few times as possible. Although, if you use the right settings, when you do get quality loss, it will be acceptable in most cases. And since you do go from AVI to MPEG-2, I hope you are frameserving, as this removes one encoding session.
