Hi, I am totally new at this. I have an RCA camcorder and a Radeon ATI 9700 Pro. I am trying to move the videos from my camcorder to my PC. How can I do this? I have what I "think" is an S video connection on my Video card (its actually a Composite connector that uses an S connection adapter) and an S video connector on my Camcorder. I hook it up and play the tapes, I use the same way that I use when I play them on my VCR only nothing shows up on my PC screen. I assume I need some type of software to "choose" the input from the camera etc. but I am not sure.
I am pretty lost...is this even possible? Any help is appreciated!!
Thanks,
Webwalker00

The should be some way to change that in your capture software. I am unfamiliar with ATI supplied software.....

Webwalker,
I am in the same position! How did you make out? What cable did you finally get? I too am confused as to what type of adapter I have on my ATI AIW 9700 Pro . I think that it is an S-Video connector.
Have you used your Studio 8 software to capture and video from your analog VCR/RCA connections?
Thanks!

Isn't the Radeon ATI 9700 just a graphics card? in other words to give you faster gameplay and better graphics in general?
If this is the case then those ports you are using are only for video output!
Used for displaying images etc on your pc on your television or VCR. -
Stop.
Only the ATI All in Wonder (AIW) cards have video input. The connector you are trying to use is probably video out.
In any case, read the manual or at least the manual on the ati website. If you indeed have an All in Wonder card the software is on the CD in the box and also on the website.
If you find you do have a capture card then remember s-video is video only - you;ll need the audio cable too, most likely RCA plugs on both ends. Most cameras come with these or available at most any electronics minded store.Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin' -
Thanks for the replies.
I do have an ATI All in Wonder card. But, the CD, manual and web site's directions are not straight-forward. I am un-clear as to what type of port the labeled "A/V INPUT" is. Is it S-Video? I dunno.
I was hoping that someone who had the same exact card as I do would respond and tell me how he/she catpure video from their VCR that had only RCA type plugs. Yeah, I got the cheap-o VCR last year. Who would thought that I would have built a sweet PC that I'd want to capture video?
Any-who, thanks for the time you guys took to reply!
