Has anyone ever tried these:
If you have, how did they work? I am looking for some cheap CD-R's but I don't know if they will work or not. [/img]

what works for me may not work for you,but as cheap cd-r's goes just dont go to cheap
(like a store brand or hewlett packard)
Memorex are good.go out and buy one ane see if it works out for you. -
Be carefull not to interpret input / responses based on "brand". Memorex sells CD-R's made by more than 1 manufacturer / process, as indicated by country of origin on the package ( Taiwan vs Japan , the latter being Taiyo-Yuden). The photo suggest ex-Taiwan type.

just curious how one would find out where exactly a CD was made? Where is it written on the cd? Or is it not on the cd?
-
It's on the plastic shrink wrap packaging. You can also download a program CDRInfo or something like it that reads a section of the CDR and provides a report on manufacturer, dye type etc.

What should I look for on the package when I go and buy them (to determine Japan vs. Taiwan)? What should I choose if I have a choice(Japan or Taiwan)?
-
Most people consider the Japan produced, Taiyo-Yuden to be in the highest quality bracket. If you but 50 pk spindles , the cake box will have a screw on lid retainer rather than a bayonet style top. The screw can be black or ivory depending on whether the final branding is Fiji, Memorex or TDK.

Does it have any markings on the 100 ct. spindle like "Made in Japan" or anything? I don't really understand what to look for because I am considering the 100-pack because after rebates it is $12.00+ less than ONE 50-pack at best buy.

Virtually every brand multipack that I have looked at has the country of origin on it somewhere, albeit in tiny print.

i always wondered why everytime i bought memorex it always came in a different container. they both worked great for me.

I have used dozens of brands, and the only one I ever had problems with was memorex. The CDs were like peeling off... Weird stuff. Don't know what manufacturer. Maybe just a bad batch. Otherwise, never had a prob.
