Has anyone successfully burned a dvd-r or dvd+r at 4X with the Sony DRU500? If so, what brand and type media did you use and what firmware is installed?

SONY DRU-500A Detail media report -
Just got in some 4x riteks form hypermicro . Nero says it's buring at 4x, but the Sony is really buring at only 2x
4235MB taking 27:31 . That's 2x
On the bright side, the $0.88 generic DVD-R discs hypermicro has burns at 2x and plays perfect on my standalone Panasonic A110.
Media source: www.hypermicro.com
Media name: Ritek 4x DVD-R (RitekG04-DVD-R-SS)
Authoring software: Ulead DVD workshop
Burning software: Nero 5.5.10.0
Media's rated/certified max speed: "4x"
Burning speed used: 2x
Firmware version/update: 1.0f
Computer DVD playback software results: fine
Computer DVD-ROM drives results: fine
Standalone DVD players results for each media/test:
Panasonic A110: fine, no problems even at the end of the disc
Apex AD600A: disc isn't recognized -
I got my Riteks from the same place and experience the same speed problem with the 4x on the same burner. Could it be hypermicro? Good think they were cheep ($1.92).

We'll probably have to wait for the next firware release to get support for cheap 4x discs. -

I have heard from Maxell themselves, that some standalone players more than three months old don't play 4X.I have even heard that 2X discs may not play on some DVD players, whereas 1X burns play fine.
