  1. Has anyone successfully captured MPEG video with AIW 128 Pro (not Radeon) using Virtual Dub and Huffyuv? I am a newcomer to digitizing video. I am using V-Dub 1.3 and cannot get the capture drivers in V-Dub to work. My ATI drivers and MMC 7.1 work fine (as far as I know.)

Any setup tips, help, advice, etc. is most welcomed. I will upgrade V-Dub to 1.4 this evening.

    Thank you in advance!

  2. I have that card and I did capture with Vdub using Huffy. I do think that avi io is better, I used to get dropped frames with vdub. Someone here said it was becasue the card and vdub. I don't remember the exact reason.

    What drivers are you using?

  3. I have the "lastest" from ATI - v4.13.7073 video drivers - the capture drivers are v4.13.5058
I would like to try out V-Dub because almost everyone seems to rave about it. It's pretty fast for converting to AVI and seems to have some good filtering. Now, I just need to capture with it.
I am totally unfamiliar with AVI IO is that a freeware?

  4. you want to be using drivers 4.12.6292 in win9x. otherwise you must install the vfwwdm wrapper (you can usually do this by installing webtv off your windows disk, then uninstall it)

  5. Thank you for the tip... and here I thought having the most up to date drivers was best! DOH!
This brings up another question... is there another way to install VFW Wrapper besides WebTV? Is there a version to VFW Wrapper?
If it's anything like installing ATI's drivers, I'm going to have second thoughts. One goes through hell installing those (at least this one does). I feel ATI has the WORST driver installation software wizard for AIW 128 I have EVER seen! In fact, I don't believe I've ever seen it complete an install without some kind of error. After several iterations of rebooting, powering off, manually removing ATI stuff from the registry, manually installing a standard VGA driver first, etc. I get lucky and the drivers FINALLY install. I was lucky enough to do this tonight as a matter of fact... so forgive my rambling. Any suggestions and advice on taming this beast are also welcome.

    Thank you in advance...

  6. I forgot my point after going off on that last tangent...
A gentleman who read my post was kind enough to send me a VFW Wrapper. Can this thing be un-installed if necessary? How will it affect the performance (or lack of) of the ATI capture drivers?

    Thanks again...
