  1. Hi out there!

    Could you help a newbie?

I have a problem with the 4 DVD's I have made so far. These are Gladiator, Star Wars episode1, and 2 Disney DVD's. When I play them on a JVC, SONY, Panasonic or a no-name set top box, the picture freezes/jumps a frame or two from time to time (once or twice a minute), and its never the same position each time!
By the way - when I play the DVD's on my PC or my laptop, they ay are fine!

I have followed "The Cretins' Guide to DVD Ripping and Copying in 40 comparatively easy steps" found on "http://www.hkruse.dircon.co.uk".
Meaning that I’m using DVD Decrypter, Ifoedit and Nero.
I can see the bit rate on my TV when I'm playing the DVDs and it does not seem to be related to the rate (average between 2.5 and 6)
The burner is a Pioneer 04 and the media is Pioneer DVS-R470SDF.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong???

    Thanks in advance!!

  2. Buffen,

the site you posted has used up it's allocated bandwith and returns an error not allowing access to the site, so I cannot review the process you went through to back up the DVD.

I have used the DVD Decrypter/IFOEdit/Nero process many times and have always had success. The only thing I can think of is to try and make sure the DVD setop players are newer, ie within a year or so. And try different DVD-R media, this can also have a bad effect. Even if you have to take some of your backups to a retail store and test them on the newer models.

Other than that, you could always try http://doom9.org/ guides and forums. The guy who made IFOEdit (Derrow) hangs out here and answers questions, or at least he did before joining 321. Either way they have very good guides and forums relating to your chosen method of backup.

    goodluck

  3. Hi Don,

    Thanks for reply!

I have taken a close look on doom9, and several of the guides, and the
DVD Decrypter/IFOEdit/Nero process is fairly straightforward

The settop players are all less than a year old (-except the no-name model) - so I think I'll test some other brands of media!

    - And try to post this question on the doom9 forum!

    Any way - thanks !
