Hi,
Was wondering if there was much diffrence between High quality and very high quality in tmpgenc. Only because when decoding a DVD, I noted that on Very high quality it almost doubles the time that it takes for a High quality encode.
Im guessing that quality gained for time is exponental, so the higher you pick the greater amount of time you need for only marginal quality diffrences.
Is High Quality VS Very High Quality noticable?
Thanks,

This again...
This has been hotly contested for eons on the forum. I'm told by some it makes no difference to have it on "HIGH", and many do just that. But it should be noted that TMPGEnc 12j version, according to specs, has one of the only fixes is "an improvement to BEST quality motion search"...
So this should, depending on what they did, improve quality on "highest". It'll probably take even longer now..
I personally have used "HIGHEST", and "DAMM" the torpedoes. Since I just encode 1 or maybe 2 segments at a time, I just batch encode the thing overnight, and while I'm at work. So to me, better safe than sorry, and I just pick quality over speed, for certain.
But if you wanna use "HIGH" only, I don't think you'll agonize over the difference.
