  1. I can't play any movie DVD's on my PC anymore. I've tried ATI DVD player, WinDVD, PowerDVD and the built-in Microsoft DVD player.

I used to be able to open the DVD using "My Computer" and I could see all the files on it. Now when I open it I just see one track (track1.cda). I know my drive isn't bad because I have a DVD player and DVD burner in the PC and they both do the same thing. When I hook the drives to my other PC (also has Windows ME on it) the DVD's work fine and I can see the files on them.

I don't have any viruses, Nothing loads on startup except Zonealarm and the normal windows components (power management, etc...). I made sure "UDF" filesystem isn't disabled in Windows, and I tried replacing the SCSI1HLP.VXD with the one from the working PC, I tried un-installing and re-installing the DVD players and still no luck. Even programs like Smartripper doesn't think the disc is a DVD.

Anybody have any ideas besides rebuilding my PC?

    Thanks,
    Steve

  2. just a thought, might help, might not.
i had a similar problem with my burner.
when i changed to xp using the exact same programs and settings it wouldnt recognise the drive as a writer.

it all came down to aspi drivers.
    maybe its worth a shot.
