I use Ulead VideoStudio 6 to create my slide/movies. Last year I was making SVCD's. In October I purchased a Sony DVD burner but have not had the time to get back to my slide shows. I have been too busy making backup copies of my movies

  5. Many authoring programs will import still pictures, allow transitions & effects and render them to a DVD compatible MPEG2. You could then use that MPEG in an authoring program (like Ulead DVD Moviefactory) to make menus and have choices for playback.

I've been quite successful with both Maestro and Impression DVDPro (DVD-type) and with WinOnCD and VCDEasy (VCD-type).

On DVD there are a number of ways to do it depending on how you want it to act. On VCD choices are a little more limited (see some of my and others' past posts).

Is there any particular order that works best?

I mean should the photos be burned to follow the video(as I think you'd need to do it on a VCD or SVCD), or does it not matter with DVD?

  8. I use Sonic Foundry Video Factory.

I use DV from my Camcorder & stills from My Digital Camera.

It has loads of transition effects & put to music looks really good and easy to use.

    Why not download a demo.

    OK,
But again, can you mix up the order of photos/video/photos/video, etc.

Or does it need to be in any certain order to work best?

ULEAD has not released DVD PictureShow 2.0 yet, but I found a trial on the web based on one of the posts here. It allows mixing videos with stills, transitions on the stills, music, narration, individual titles on the pictures...etc.

You can set a default time for each picture, and edit that for any individual shot. You can also record a voice description of the still, and the picture will display for the length of the narration. This narration can occur over the optional background music, or you can choose to stop and restart the background music for any picture!

The stills (and the video if you like) can both be stored on the final copy in their original format and resolution. This makes the whole setup a lot more attractive for archiving material.

I haven't seen any sign of a release date, but this package does a whole lot of good things.

Adobe Premiere does a fantastic job of adding stills with video with all the transitions and background music.

I know it's an expensive program but there are cheap hardware packages that come bundled with full Premiere 6.0 (Pinnacle DV200 as an example can be bought for around £170 in Uk) )even if you discarded the hardware you would still save a lot of money and if you wanted to you upgrade to 6.5 quite cheaply.

The still picture sequence is coverted to MPG file - keeping trasitions/fades etc - Thus can be mixed with video.

    Does this make sense?

  13. Ulead DVD Pictureshow 2 and Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 would both do this in their new versions I think. The trials are now up on www.ulead.com

I have version 1.0 of both & wish the upgrade prices weren't so high.
