Just search the forum using DVD-R as your keyword. People have explained several methods of doing this.

By the way, I've found that many of the files that give you that error w/ DVDSP 1.5.x on OS X often work just fine with DVDSP 1.0x-1.2x for OS 9.

I had the same problem and I am a newbie too. Someone was kind enough to help me out so I will tell you what they told me. You need to get "More Missing Tools." It's a program that does a bunch of things I don't know how to use. Just do a Google search for "More Missing Tools." When you get it, use "Bits (Timecode)" and select your M2V file. It will open a program called Darwin and should say that it is writing to the file you chose. It will not do anything for a long while (an hour or more for a full length movie). After that, use the new file "Fixed" in DVD Studio Pro along with your ac3 file and it should work fine. It's really quite simple. Good luck!

Tix,
Try Bile's site as a starting point:
http://www.anycities.com/user/bilestyle/index.html
Go to the DVD>DVD-R Conversion Guide -- procedure 3(1).
Join the segments of 4GB or less remuxed streams using mpgtx. Be sure to output as DVD when you use mplex in MMT to remux the streams. BTW -- all of these small applications can be found using Google.
Note -- I have experienced some minor joining problems using mpgtx. I am working on a fix for this. Far and away, this is the BEST tutorial I have found (though it is a little sparsely written and somewhat dated).
Also, be advised that Kai, Bile and Major are all working on a more definitive solution to our transcoding woes on the Mac. The new gui should be available in a matter of days (according to the posts I've seen).
You are jumping in at the right time.DVDM B)

I've found a way to *improve* the video and audio stream at the point of the join.
mpgtx is capable of joining the video segments, but it will not resolve the break in timecode and this will cause problems in DVDSP when you go to set chapter markers at any point after the join.
A workaround to fix the time code includes running the joined video through MPEG Append (be sure to select non-drop frames). MPEG Append will generate continuous timecode and minimize the GOP of 15 black frames created by mpgtx during joining (a direct result of the PICT file import in QT Pro in previous steps of the process).
The resultant video will run perfectly in DVDSP. Howeverthere will still be a small lag in video at the join resulting in a small synch problem.
This is the best result I've seen, but its not quite perfect. I'm still working on a better solution.
Note: I have not been able to join the video streams using MPEG Append. It seems to choke on the PICT at the second stream. mpgtx isn't bothered by it. Thus you must use both programs. Argh.DVDM B)

there's a way to resolve your problem...
don't join anything,
rip the entire title in elementary streams
then re-encode M2V track with Mediapipe or FFMPEG,
then you don't need to join anythingNewbie -
If only it were that easy. I have tried to rip using this technique in Mediapipe, but it leads to even worse synch issues.
By the way, I believe we're discussing NTSC video not PAL. While you CAN successfully rip PAL in Mediapipe, the story is different for NTSC.
To resolve the synch issues for NTSC, you must first REMUX the streams in MMT using mplex (this creates a muxed MPEG-2 track for QT). This step is ESSENTIAL as it will resolve the synch problems created by 3:2 pulldown.
Unfortunately, you must segment your movie in MMT's mplex if it is greater than 4GB (because QT Pro will not work with files larger than 4GB).
I am meerly amplifying Bile's process (from HIS website). If you read all of these discussions, you will eventually end up HERE confronted by THIS problem. If you want to take the journey yourself, have at it. If not, go to Bile's site and then review my own notes in this thread.
All of this is probably for naught as Bile, Kai & Major have found a much better solution and are in the process of creating a much anticipated gui for the rest of us. It should be posted soon...DVDM B)
