  1. Does anyone know why Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R's have "RW" on them. On the 2x Verbatim DVD-R's, it is shows R 4.7. But on the DVD+R's, it has DVD+R on the right side, under where it says DATA LIFE PLUS, but directly underneath the DVD+R, it has "RW" on them. What does that "RW" stand for? Anybody? It shouldn't have anything to do with rewritable because they are DVD+R's. I just think this is weird.

  2. It is trademark for + media. It is like DD (one is fliped) for Dolby Digital. It does not mean that it is rewritable

  3. Thanks Donpedro, that is definitely interesting. You mentioned DD for dolby digital, and I was wondering what the "RW" actually stands for? Do you know what it stands for? Thanks again in advance.

  4. I have got these websites directly from "What is DVD" on this site:

    http://www.dvdrw.com/ DVD+RW Alliance (+)

    http://www.dvdforum.com/forum.shtml DVD Forum (-)

each group is using different logo. Try there to get more info.

  5. thanks again for the info Donpedro. I checked out both links, and saw nothing that specifies what that "RW" means. Actually, the first link just confuses me more because it shows that very same "RW" emblem on the home page but it says "rewritable" underneath it. That is very odd isn't it? The disks are DVD+R's, but have that "RW" emblem which that first link is saying means Rewritable. Weird. If anyone can explain why that emblem would be on DVD+R's, I would appreciate it.

On Fuji (DVD+R) and Philips you can find this logo too.I think, this means simply: this DVD+R is compliant to the DVD+RW (rewritable) alliance (or the manufacturer of the DVD is member of ...).IMHO, the DVD+RW was first and then the DVD+R.
SO, IMHo it's just a logo and doesn't say anything about the disk (if it's recordable or rewritable)

  7. I believe the rw in this case is a trademark abreviation standing for Rights Withheld. Not 100% but i'm fairly certian.

  8. thanks for the responses. Both are very interesting theories, or maybe facts. Well, I guess it isn't that important, but I just thought it was odd to have that "RW" on the disk, but both responses make sense. Thanks
