Hi,
I just made my first DvD-R yesterday but got a problem. I backup Back to the future I, NTSC.
I made the mv2 file and extract french and english AC3 sound with DvD2DvD-R v1.3.4. I used ForceFilm. The program stop after CCE 2.5 but didnt exit it.
So I stop it manually, then did the pulldown.exe command: pulldown <infile>.mv2 <outfile>.mv2 . After I extracted the chapters with chapterXtractor.
Then I imported the 2 soundtracts, the pulldown mv2 and the chapters in DvDMaestro. i have change the default "4:3" setting to "16:9 LB/PS". Then I compiled and burn the DvD with VOB Instant CD/DVD in a Pioneer A05 drive. (Princo 1x)
On my computer, with PowerDvD, the dvd plays fine in 16:9 widescreen. But on dvdplayer, it plays full screen. If I zoom out to 50% on my dvdplayer, the movie is like a normal 16:9 widescreen movie. Also, the label for the french audio track is english.
So my question is, what did I do wrong? I suspect its either the pulldown or something in DvDMaestro. When I did the pulldown, i got a message saying "Doing a 4:3 pulldown..."
Thanks

Check you ifo files with Ifoedit. I think you'll find that the "movie" line entry will say 4:3 not 16:9. If that's the case change it to 16:9 and save it.

In InfoEdit I have those settings for the main movie:
Aspect Ratio 16:9
Resolution 720x480
Static: Automatic Pan & scan is check
Static: Automatic LetterBoxed is check
For the Video Manager menu attibutes I have:
Aspect Ratio 4:3
Resolution 720x480
On the original DvD, the main movie has 16:9 and automatic letterbox is check.
On the original DvD, the Video Manager menu attibutes are 16:9 and Automatic Pan & scan is check
I am going to try to match those and reburn. Too bad my DvD player doesnt read my pioneer DvD-RW disk
Ifoedit ask me is I wanted to save in bup has well. I said yes... was it a good thing? -
yes you save the bup files, they are backup files for the ifo files and should always be the same. You say that both automatic P&S and automatic letterbox are selected in your DVD compilation. You should un-check automatic P&S. Only check automatic letterbox.

It worked!!
Thanks
I also changed the second audio track so the label is french. Worked too. Only thing I see now not working is that I have a total of 8 audio track while only 2 are really there. Player is not allowing to go further than 2 but its bothering me :P
