I have a panasonic LF-D311 dvd-ram / dvd-r ! I like it a lot no real problems yet, but i am going to primiere one of my movies soon and need media. Becuase i'm fairly new at this i'm asking the world what they think? Here we go:
I want media 2.00 or under for profit reasons and i want it to be as compatible as possible! I will burn in dvd workshop or dvdit! (probably workshop) So whats the best media for under 2 dollars thanks!
P.S. If its under 2 bucks thats fine! If i could get a fifty pack that would be awesome
Thanks!

I've had great results from Ritek media. I'm able to burn 4.27 gig without any playback problems.
Even Princo's burn flawless upto 4gig.
If your unsure of your media selection, order a sample pack from one of the many media retailers. Check out the dvd media reports also.
Makesure you have the latest firmware, it helps speed up lead in, and lead out times, along with media loading. Although media loading is still slow, it is faster with the new firmware.

I have used the Optodisk on the Pioneer 103 and 104 with good results. Since the Pioneer doesn't work with my current motherboard, I'm getting the LF-D311 next week. Hopefully it will not give me all the problems I have had with the Pioneer drives. Also, the Panasonic can only burn at 1x, so no need to *try* the 2 and 4x (flaky) media

I've used K-Hyper disks. They seem to work in most of the players. Burned them out to 4.2GB or so with no problems. Also Memorex has been good to me. Used a few Smartdisk brand, but they don't work in my player. Chump Screw Us All brand, Imation, and cart.less Panasonic RAM disks. Bad luck with Vivastar -R disks, which is funny 'cause my drive has a Vivastar front cover.
Skittleson, make sure to get the newest RAM drivers. I gave a link about 6-8 weeks ago. You might want to update the firmware, same thread as drivers. Also, No joy with RAM while the drive is in a firewire enclosure! Had to be on the IDE for the drivers to find the drive!
Over all, I'm fairly pleased with this drive after 6 months. Only 2 "problems" I have are:
1. It makes a lot of noise when reading CD's.
2. The mp3 ripping software I have (MusicMatch) doesn't control the drive speed properly when ripping. Ever had a CD with scratches? Ripping at 1x or 2x can fix a lot of those problems. Though this might be a problem with the drive too.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
ok so now i got a few brands, any model number or links thanks! I also know to stay away from 4x disks.
I have a really old standalone (samsung extiva) will any of these work on the samsung or similar players? Thanks!President Unscripted Studios -
