  1. Hi

Just been trying out an Alba dvd 114 from Argos.

Have tried tried two different players but neither seem to have digital sound on the coaxial connection. The same coaxial lead was used on my other dvd player and that's been working fine for years! Also checked all the setting in the dvd player menu for audio.

On the second player I've connected it up with optical connector and that works, but have heard that optical connections can lead to sound that's not as good as when using coaxial lead(?).

Has anybody out there found the same ?

What are you alba dvd 114 owners using ?

Is there a hidden seeting any where that Ive missed ?

    Cheers

I've only had one a week and haven't connected it up to an exetrnal amp or decoder but from what Ive read in the manual it may be the audio configuration option.

If your amp decodes Dolby Digital then I think you have to select LPCM, if your amp doesnt' decode DD then the DVD player needs to decode it and pass the decoded signal to the amp so I think you then select Bitsream (or it could be vice versa - I don't have the manual with me at work to check which way round it is!).

  3. I think I've tried almost all combinations of audio set ups. But surely if it works through the optical it should work through the coaxial cale - or am i missing something ?
