Ok these are probably very simple questions to answer but it doesn't hurt to ask, and I'm from Australia so I'm trying to get everything to work PAL. And yes I did a search (it turned up 350+) and read a few before posting this.

My DVD player (LG 2360P) only supports VCD, not svcd

1: If I choose vcd ntsc-film, ntsc or pal templates for tmpeg encoding, does it actually change the dimensions of the film? (yes?)

2: (as I'm pretty sure that the answer to the above question is yes) I've been converting anime that I've gotten with the VCD-Pal template (25fps 352 x 288) and burning it through Nero 5.5.9.9 using the Pal option in the menu. But when I play in on my standalone dvd player (LG 2360P) it doesn't fit on my TV screen (it's too big) and cuts out half of the subtitles or image (from the top, bottom and both sides) by quite a bit. I've also tried it on an XMS 750 which gives the option of choosing the system NTSC or PAL, but the picture is still too big. In NTSC mode the height is alright (still a little bit out) but the width is way out.

3: Most of the anime I've got is either 23 fps, 24fps or 29 fps and have sizes of mainly 512 x 384 but I'm still using the VCD template which says 25fps and 340 x 288. It says in the conversion thing that I should use the template closest to the framerates (nothing about the sizes), but I stick by the PAL template. Is this wrong (if I want it to play PAL)

4: I've tried converting using the ntscf-film / ntsc and then playing it (because of the smaller size 352 x 240) thinking that it wouldn't cut out the top or bottom part of the image, but it still does.

5: I tried resizing the image (unlocking the settings in tmpeg) to 512 x 384, but when I burnt it (after turning off standard compliance in nero) half the screen was static and the other the bottom half of the anime)

6: I read that PAL TV-Screen size is 704x576 is that true?

7: All the anime I've converted were DVDrips (that I didn't do)

Only a few questions actually. It's mainly 2 & 3 that I'm looking for answers / comments for.

I've tried to include all the information needed, but as I dont' know what's wrong, I don't know what info is needed.
