  1. I have a few avseqxx.dat files which I need to put in a new vcd. Is there a way to use them as avseq01.dat, avseq02.dat, etc, in a new vcd without first converting them to mpg.

Basically I have the dat files from 3 vcds and I need to put them on one because the file sizes are small enough to fit in one. So instead of having 3 vcds, I will integrate them to one vcd.

Later I plan to create a menu system to jump to these individual dats.

Most of the programs I have seen first convert the files to mpg and then use the mpg to create a vcd. In my case I will also have to join multiple mpg files together. Too much hassle.

Is there a solution/software to my dilemma

    Thanks in advance.

If you absolutely insist on doing it this way then use Nero, create a new VCD and drop the dat files into the lower pane. A word of caution, Nero apparently does not strip out the CDXA RIFF headers when doing this resulting in small glitches when you reburn the videos.

To avoid this turn it back into a standard MPEG file first, it doesn't take very long since it is not a conversion in the conventional sense it just strips off the RIFF header. You have a large choice of tools like VCDGear, Isobuster, VCDEasy and besides if you are going to re-author it (menu's etc) then you will have to do a dat->mpg at some point.
