  1. audio issue of mpeg layer 3 overcome by using virtualdub - divx to mpeg via tmpgenc fine until it hit the point in the film where there is a mild disturbance in source video - divx - (divx audio/video sync not affected) but mpeg thrown out by about 2 seconds after this point. How can i accurately correct before taking to VCDeasy

A simple technique (even brutal) if there is one much appreciated

  2. I had a similar problem a while ago, and it took me quite along time to fix it. I had to cut the file in half using source range option in the settingsbutton in TMPG Enc. Then getting one half of the file so that it is from the start, to the exact frame before it goes out of sync as the end point. Then creat an mpeg file say as part one of cd 1. Then do the same thing again, only make it so that the second time you change it so the start point is the exact frame after the file goes out of sync, and make the end point to end of the file. Then here comes the part that takes alot of patience. First of all you need to make sure you have the second part of the file loaded. Then you have to go to the source range part in the settings again and then double click like before. Then where it says audio gap, you have got to change that so that (I think it was -whatever number in that box is for if the sound comes before the mouth movement, and numbers with a positive value is for when the sound comes after the picture) It may be the other way round though. It is in milliseconds, so a number like 10 or 15, doesn't change it too much. But believe me, doing this takes alot of time to get it exactly right. It is easier, if you make a small like 30 second clip of the video, to do the testing on, to save having to go through the whole file, and if you get it right on the smaller clip then just have the same number in the audio gap for the longer version. But if you are patient enough and can get the audio back in sync, then you have to go to the MPEG Tools section in the file menu, then to the Merge Cut section, the firstly add the part that has always been in sync, and then secondly add the fixed bit, so in other words the movie is in the right order, rather than the start being the end and the end being the start. Then create the file name down the bottom, and click RUN. But trust me when I say this it took me along long time to get the file to work properly, so it better be worth it. There is possibly other ways to do it, as I'm by no means an expert at doing vcd's.
