  1. So far, I've had no luck in creating a VCD slide show which will be recognized by my DVD player when using WinOnCD 3.8PE's extended editor.

If I include the PlayVCD software on the CD, and execute that on a PC, my slideshow will run, loop, play background music, etc. Unfortunately, neither my PC or DVD player will actually RECOGNIZE the disc as a VCD.

I've noticed that when the disc is burned, no MPEG file is being created (all of my still images go to .dat files). Could this be the reason it's not being recognized as a VCD? Would throwing a blank, two second MPEG video onto the disc fix my problems?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Dave,
You're right in one point. When you burn the VCD template(white book) it always creates aviseq01.DAT , aviseq02.DAT ... and so on. NOT .mpeg files.
After I burn the VCD I insert it on the CD-Room tray and my Creative software witch cames with may sound card recognize the VCD disk and automatically plays the first aviseq01.dat and so on.

  3. Sorry, brainfart on my part. =)

What I SHOULD'VE said, was that there is no MPEG .dat file in the MPEGAV directory on the disc.

The stills are placed in a .dat file in the SEGMENT directory.

After some experimentation, I've found that adding an MPEG to the process WILL make my PC VCD player (QuickVCD) recognize the disc as a VCD. Unfortunately, this seems to be the only .dat file that it sees. It won't advance to the NEXT .dat file in the sequence, which would be my .dat file with the stills.

So to clarify my question, is there a way to make PC VCD Players recognize the .dat file in the SEGMENT directory?

    Regards,
    Dave
