I have a HP dvd200i writer and have bought some datasafe dvd-rw disks, but the writer will not recognise them. Is this down to the firmware? Is there anything I can do or am I stuck with 25 disks that won't work?

The HP only uses DVD+RW and DVD+R disks. The + and - distinction is important! Perhaps you can try selling the disks on e-bay.
See this website for more info on DVD+RW:

Yes I have found that out now and swapped the disks for -R.
(pity it cost me an extra £5 and I only got 10 -r disks!)
At least I can start burning now
Thanks for the URL
