Hi just got a new dvd player, and bought a dvd on ebay (the full monty), it was advertised as a multiregional dvd, on opening the dvd it says its a region 1, and consequently doesn't play on our player, when i contacted the seller he says "region 1 is multiregional. you require a non british or multiregional dvd player to use it." i assumed multiregional meant the dvd would be compatable on all the different region players, is he telling me porkys??
    Thanks guys
    Mike

  3. I am assuming that multiregional player is one that can play DVDs from region 1, 2, 3.... whitch one is last one ? 9 ? and All.

If it say on the back "Region 1" it is possible that it still can be multiregional if they "hacked" it (that is what I did with mine) (or "chipped it" is word for changing chip? )

Also to play NTSC or PAL DVDs on PAL only (or NTSC only) TV it have to be able to convert. Multiformat (multinorm, who knows the right words? ) TVs can play NTSC or PAL signal and no conversion is needed.

  4. Multiregion is sometimes referred to as region 0. Some DVDs that are strict don't like being played on such players (hacked or not). There are legit multiregion players for International travellers (Peter Jusstisen in Denmark is one such reseller).
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

    Hi Guys
Thanks for the input, it's the dvd (disc) itself which is my query as it was advertised as multiregional, and the seller claims multiregional means region 1, whereas as the wording implies the disc will play on all players?
    any more thoughts
    Thanks
    Mike

  7. The seller is talking out of his butt. Region 1 is north America.

So a region 1 disc will not play in a region 2,3,4, etc.. DVD player unless it has been chipped or hacked, or is region free out of the box.

Like kitty says there are region free discs available which are known as region 0

  8. I have one multiregional DVD disc. Instead of 1 in square, I have word "All" in square.
