  1. I've recently noticed some of the older movies don't have an "AUDIO_TS" folder. They just have a VIDEO_TS folder. One example of this is on the first Nutty Professor. Another example would be "Election." Both of those movies are single layered or DVD-5's. Nutty Professor came out in 1996, while Election came out in 1999. I don't know if it has anything to do with being older movies, but I have ripped other much older movies and have never come across any, until now, which ONLY have a VIDEO_TS folder. I had always assumed, because I had NEVER seen any files in the AUDIO_TS folder, that is was just there for compliance reasons. Just like those folders should be in all caps, I thought you HAD to have an AUDIO_TS folder. Once in a while I will see a JACKET folder, but that is along with BOTH the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders.

My question is basically two-fold though. 1) Why do some movies NOT have an AUDIO_TS folder, such as the ones I've named above. And more specifically, why do most movies have an AUDIO_TS folder, but NEVER have anything in that folder? And the second question, which is really the one I am concerned with is, should I just burn my backup of those movies WITHOUT the AUDIO_TS folder, just like the original. Or should I create an AUDIO_TS folder anyway. This is very interesting to me, and I would appreciate it if someone would give me some info on this, because I am not going to burn those movies until I know for sure. Thanks in advance!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  2. I pondered the same question some time ago and now I add AUDIO_TS folder to make sure it is compatible with all DVD players. The folder is still
undefined according to the "DVD Forum".

  3. thanks MovieGeek, that is interesting, sounds like the "forum" is undefined in a lot of things, such as the "+" format. That's ok, they can be undefined, but I know the "+" format has been great to me. Speed, quality, everything. Anyway, I will add an AUDIO_TS folder to those movies, as well as any other I may encounter in the near future. Thanks for the info!
