I have many widescreen divxmovies and I wonder how to encode them to vcd so I can watch them with widescreen on my TV?
I want the vcd to look exact like the movie I had before encoding it.

  2. err download tmpgenc if u havnt already..... load it up. then choose the format (ntsc or pal- which u can check by lookin at rthe fps of the movie u wanna change) then click next. on the next screen load the divx file u want to convert, and on that menu there should be an input below that reads:

"ASPECT RATIO": then an input box, clik that box and change to 16:9 (ntsc or pal, again depending on your needs) and that should be it!
I'm not sayin' he was right, but you're sayin' a foot massage don't mean nothing, and I'm sayin' it does. I've given a million ladies a million foot massages and they all meant somethin'.

Is your TV a widescreen(16:9 aspect ratio) set or a standard(4:3) one? If it's a standard tv then you need to change the aspect ratio to 4:3(instead of 16:9) otherwise it will make it an anamorphic widescreen movie. You may have heard of that on your dvd's and when you play them there may be no error in the aspect ratio(picture being stretched vertically), but that is because your dvd player adds borders to make it fit a standard tv, but most don't do that for vcds.

Also under the advanced tab, set "Source Aspect Ratio" to 1:1 (all divx movies are 1:1) and "Video Arrange Method" to "Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)"

look here for more explanation about aspect ratios http://www.doom9.org/aspectratios.htm

Now I donīt understand,Jordan said earlier to use aspect ratio 16:9 but now you Donnie tells me to use 1:1 and in Video Arrange Method using
    "Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)"

So should I use just 16:9 in aspect ration or using 1:1 in aspect ratio and
"Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)" in Video Arrange Method ?

And if I have a xvid then, should I encode it to same lke divx?
