  1. What speed and brand of processor would you guys recommend for use with the DVD2SVCD program? I currently have an Intel Celeron 400mhz, I believe. 256mb of ram. I tried to encode a movie, but it is extremely slooow!!! What would you guys recommend?

    Thanks

  3. Thanks rsuave5 for the reply.

How long does it normally take you to rip, encode and burn a full length DVD, with the computer you have?

  4. 512 megs of ram won't speed up the encode, it's CPU power. You want something fast... and let's not start the intel-amd war thing again please.

I've successfully ripped appox. 50 movies with DVD2SVCD and I'm running a AMD 1700+ / 256 DDR Ram and my total time is approx. 3hrs if I use CBR and 6 hrs if I use VBR-4. Hope that gives you an idea.....Take care....

I have an AMD XP 1800 (1.5 Gigahertz) and 128 DDR RAM
it takes me just under an hour to encode a 1 gigabyte VOB file to a good quality 1-Pass Divx file. Dont even attempt to encode unless you have at least 1 gigahertz of cpu power; regardless of whether its Intel or AMD.

i would recommend getting at least 2.4ghz , this will be more than enough power and if you search www.pricewatch.com you can find some good deals on desktops. should be able to find one for under $550 easily
