2.0 ghz intel or equal amd and 512 ram seem to provide me with quick encodes and quality rips,
if i could id go 2.8 ghz and a full gig of ram -
Thanks rsuave5 for the reply.
How long does it normally take you to rip, encode and burn a full length DVD, with the computer you have? -
512 megs of ram won't speed up the encode, it's CPU power. You want something fast... and let's not start the intel-amd war thing again please.

it takes me just under an hour to encode a 1 gigabyte VOB file to a good quality 1-Pass Divx file. Dont even attempt to encode unless you have at least 1 gigahertz of cpu power; regardless of whether its Intel or AMD. -
i would recommend getting at least 2.4ghz , this will be more than enough power and if you search www.pricewatch.com you can find some good deals on desktops. should be able to find one for under $550 easily
