  1. DVD -> DVD-r or XSVCD or SVCD with very simple interface.

This is a "Think Different" approch based on the QT components.
Fast and uses minimal disk space. No know sync issues.
Simple QuickStart_ReadMe and Sequence of Operation included.

DVD outputs MPEGS, VIDEO_TS, and DISK IMAGE files.

XSVCD also uses the QT engines, but outputs svcd disk images.

SVCD has options for MediaPipe or AftoPic style encoding.
This part is fully operational, but a little rough, especially the movtoy4m.

Source Code available for those wishing to help polish it.

  2. No comments on this?

    Anyway, supported formats:
    VOB > DVD-r
    VOB > XSVCD
    VOB > SVCD
    MOV > DVD-r
    MOV > XSVCD
    MOV > SVCD

  3. ross,
sounds like that would kick ass. i've been waiting for a straight dvd to
dvd/r reeencoding software that ACTUALLY WORKS for a mac.

I would like to see it in action. Where can I get it?

  4. Looks cool Ross. In most cases I'd rather use the QT encoder because it's so fast. Seeing how it does use the QT encoder, will it export an svcd at 480 x 480 or will it still be 720 x 480 and have to convert with hexedit (which doesn't really work for me)?

Hey Ross, great job. This is fantastic! I especially like how easy this makes DVD authoring for people without DVDSP.

Two questions: when doing a SVCD through mediapipe, how can you control the bitrate? Does it always use the default (2500?)

Also, can you cause it to make an XSVCD with AC3 sound, or is AC3 only available to the DVD muxing?

    Again, this is great.

  6. This is good, some feedback.

I tried, QT encoder is locked up tight as drum, so dvd and xsvcd will always be 720x480.

I will add a bitrate option for MediaPipes svcd encoder, but I quickly learned with MMT, a gui full of adjustments is too much for some and never enough for others.

No problem allowing ac3 to xsvcd, but ac3 is not in the svcd standard, but neither is 720 pixels wide resolution.

BTW, I think those players that work with the HexEdit trick, will probably work with 720 anyway.

Hi Ross. I was just examining this a bit, and am I right that it doesn't actually encode to AC3 for DVD, but demuxes AC3 from a program stream? In other words, a DVD/AC3 is not possible from a quicktime movie?
