Will windows xp fit on a unformatted 1,281.9 mb hard drive?

If you install from CD, yes it will fit. You won't have room left to install very much of anything. And you will want 2xRAM in spare HD space for swapfile(you can get bye with 1xRAM in HD space for swapfile, but you may have problems). XP won't do squat with less than 128 MB, and generally need 196 MB of RAM or more to work adequately.

  4. My version of XP Corporate Professional takes up nearly 2 gig when installed! Somewhat bigger than the normal 500Meg of 98!

  7. Old drives are slow, and it also means slow swapfile... The XP install on all my machines take near 2gig, and that's without any other software, IE cache, nothing in recycle bins (not used), no temp files, ... I mean, if you have a old 6'ish to 20 gig drive, it's good enough. Sure, you can always slim it down, but a 1.2gig drive? Those things feel like a big floppy nowadays.

i would, there's not much room on a 1.2 giger, more like 1 gig.
    i would just patition it,the c drive 3-5 gigs.

then you would have a free bay to put another 160gig in :P

well i was just think that the os would be less cluttered on a solitary drive then if things get too slow i can just format the one drive... good idea or not??
