Verbatim and Nero

I picked up the Verbatim DVD Producer Package from Office Max. I Had a coupon so I got it for $169 after a mail in Rebate. It comes with Nero Express, which I installed. But going into it it loads the virtual image builder and does not recognize the drive. Now the Verbatim drive is really an Nec ND1000. I Checked Ahead's Website and it does not list this drive as supported. Although it does support the 1100A. Why would Verbatim ship this with Nero Express if it does not work? I Downloaded a demo of RecordCD from Stomp and it worked flawlessly.

Anyone have this drive and have any answers?

I have the same drive (same deal). I had the latest full version of Nero on my PC and it see's the DVD writer as a CD-RW only. I can't copy anything to it with that version. I uninstalled Nero and installed Nero Express (did you use the update floppy that was in the box that updates the registry?) and it can write to the DVD writer in both DVD+RW and CD-RW. But I'd like to get the full version of Nero working properly with the DVD writer.

I Don't have a floppy drive on my PC but I Downloaded the file from the Website they provided. No difference. Does not recognize the drive. I Too had the version of Nero you spoke about and the same deal, will only burn CDR/RW's

I was able to get Nero 5.5.9.17 to burn to the Verbatim drive onto a DVD +RW. I went through the Wizard and it works. I don't know why I can't do that not using the Wizard. I'll let you know if I find out anything more.

I picked up Stomp's Record Now Max at CompUsa works great on everything I've burned.....

Read my post on the DVD2DVDR forum regarding Nero and Verbatim, and proabably just Nero in general. @Scarpad, good choice with RecordNowMax, I too have not had a single problem with it.
