Im trying to get raw dv out of my cannon DM-MV200E, into either Studio 8 or Premire 6.5, baisicly edited and then on to DVD via either Nero, Easy CD 5 or the burning tools inherent to either editing program then to copy these DVD to VHS when nessasary .
I have Cleaner 5 and a whole host of other conversion programs.
My problem is this, my movies may run to 40 or 50 mins, This seems to be to big at "News at Ten" quality i.e 4 gig file size limit ?
secondly It seems to me that 16 hours to wait for a movie to be encoded is too long.
Thirdly, studio 8, proclaims to capture in mpeg 2, is this the case?, it seems to want to convert my captured video after every clip this means i have to wait both at the capture end and encoding end of the process.
What am i doing wrong? or am i expecting too much?
    all advice welcome.
    Thanks
    Jeff.

  2. you should have no problem fitting 50 minutes on a DVD-R, are you sure you're encoding with the correct template?

Hi Mark, Ive sent you a mail, It seems that when i try to encode my final video ie 50 mins, the encrytion stops when the max file size is reached ie 4 gig, this is only 12 or 14 mins long, how do i make a 50 min video ?
    Please help.

It sounds like you're hitting the 4gb FILE limitation, but it also sounds like the encoding settings are not correct. Can you describe the settings you are using?

  5. yep got the mail thanks

i was going to reply and say that it's the 4gb file size limit you're encountering. i think you need to upgrade your OS to deal with it unfortunately.. i wonder if anyone on the forums can shed any more light..
