Should long filenames be checked or unchecked for a DVD-R to be compatible with as many standalone players as possible?
I followed the "How to burn to DVD-Video with VOB Instant CD/DVD" guide and unchecked "the disc contains long filenames according to the Microsoft Joilet standard" (by default it is checked). The DVD-RW did not play on my Pioneer DV-454. I tried again and used the default settings (long filenames checked) and now my DVD-RW plays perfect.
Obviously long filenames needs to be checked for the DVD-R to play in a Pioneer DV-454, but is this just an issue with this player or should it always be checked for a DVD-R to be compatible with as many standalone DVD players as possible?
