  1. Is there a difference in the capturing capabilities of the 7500, 8500 end the 9000 models, or is the difference only in 3D performance?

  2. Capture abilities are identical. The 7000 and 8000 series use the same theatre chip as my AIW Radeon 32 DDR board.

Better off (if you don't need the game graphics) to try and find an AIW Radeon 32 DDR like mine....

  3. Is the Radeon AIW better then the pci TV Wonder for capturing ?

  4. YES!!!

ATI's TVwonder is using a different capture chip - not as crisp, lower over-all resolution.

AIW-128 and Radeon use a newer theatre chip. Much better captures (I have both, and the Radeon wins hands down.)

  5. What chip is the newer Radeon's using ?
The reason I asked is I justed poised the same query to a local pc hardware vendor and he told me there was no difference and to save my money. He also lost a sale, so I'm confussed ....

    Thanks

  6. The 7500, 8550 AIW uses the Rage Theater 1 chip and the Micronas stereo decoder, the 9700 PRO uses the Theater 200, as for the 8500Dv capture digitally the 9700Pro does not, not big deal also the 9700Pro takes the burden off the CPU by utilizing R300 graphics chip to do most of the encoding and stuff.
