1) If a program is no longer available for purchase or demo, AND
2) As long as you are not selling it, or doing anything to profit
3) Just doing it as a good Samaritan.
Is it ok to give a program to someone?

Demos are meant to be handed to other people so they can try it, and go out purchase it.
Non-demo, you can give out your original usually, but some licenses won't even allow that. Some licenses are for one computer (no matter who uses it), some are for one user (no matter how much computer you install it on, you're the only authorized user)... The EULA might state something... -
As always, it depends on the license.
Some companies don't allow you to redistribute demo versions either.
