version: 0.3.2: Nice update with this version, it auto detects whether or not mpeg2enc and quicktime mpeg-2 decoder are installed to lessen the bulk of email i get from people who don't read the read me files explicitly stating the need for mpeg2enc and quicktime mpeg-2 decoder to use most of the converting. On a downside of that even if you aren't attempting to convert mpeg-2 it will still not convert based on the fact that the component is missing, sorry for those only using it for qt (which is think isn't many people in the first place anyways) Also official dv support has been added so now you can feed in .mov OR .dv files. (i haven't extensively tested with DV, but i've done a few tests and it seems to work well). In addition Afropic does NOT need to be copied of the disc image anymore because it copies the script out before writing to it and executing it. Other than that only did some bug fixes here and there.

  2. Hi, bilestyle

Thanks for bringing Afropic to us . It looks nice, and it is a very good idea to add support for .mov and .dv files. Actually, since you can export as Quicktime from iMovie, I am not sure what the need for .dv is.

However, I disagree with your making the MPEG2 decoder mandatory even if we're not using MPEG2 as input. I am one of the few (maybe) not interested in MPEG2 source, and I can't use Afropic since I won't buy the component. I don't need it and I won't pirate it as an ethical stance.

I would be very happy if you would remove the need for this (unfree) component when not encoding MPEG2. Again, I would really like to use it.

    Thanks a lot,

    Lga.

yeh i didnt have time to code it to personally look to see if input was mpeg-2 to see if hte component was needed, but i was getting tooo much email about people not getting it to work for one reason or another and number 1 cause was either mpeg2enc not being installed or quicktime mpeg-2 decoder bein installed.- in next release ill do what i can to fix it.-- but i do want to include it because it is important for most of the uses a lot of my user base needs it for.

  4. I have installed a few different versions of afropic and I have not been able to use one version yet because I am getting this weird error that I never selected a movie to encode.
I made a movie using snapz pro X that shows the afropic problem I am having. I also upgraded to the newest afropic 3.2 and the problem is still occuring. Afropic keeps telling me thatn I didn't select video input, when I do. I would really like to try this program, but I can't get over this basic hump. After seeing the video, I hope someone can tell me what is wrong with afropic on my machine.

i think the problem is either 1) a space in the file name, or 2) a space in one of the directory names. if you notice, nothing appears in the input or output box so it doesnt think a file has been input. try taking the space out of the front of the name of your file and try again. also make sure there is only one period in the name, if it finds more than one it errors out (ill fix this asap)

  6. There were no spaces in the folder or file names. Here is the path I used:
    /Users/toyboy/Desktop/toisan.mov
For more tests, I moved toisan.mov to the / directory. I also tried a few different movies and they are all having the same results. When I do choose a file, I see a window appear for less than 1/2 a second, but I can never read what it says because it is only there for 1/2 a second. I am not able to catch the window with snapz pro X. I am farily certain that it the problem isn't with names. I thought it might be that earlier and tested the name theory a while ago. Do you have any other suggestions, I would really like to use your pgrogram becuase I heard it takes care of all the audio sync problems. =( I did notice that nothing appears in the input or output box so it doesnt think a file has been input, but I don't know how it should look if it works right becuase I have not been able to get afropic to work on my machine. Would it be possible in another release of afropic to have the input and output destination field editable? I don't know if it is already supposed to be editable, but I can't write anything in the input and ouotput fields.

you cant actually type in those fields because they are only for display purposes... if you COULD type anything in those fields you would still get the same issue, they are just there so the user can see what they are converting and where it is going. the reason i said something about a space in the file name is the fact that the file was called "torisan" or something and was at the very top of the file structure, the only way a file starting with a "t" could be at the top is having a space in the very front of the name.
