  1. I have WinXP in a NFTS partition (40Gb).
I captured a movie (10 gb) with IuVCR / HuffYUV & PCM Audio, but after 4gb the video stay out of sync with the video and in the end the audio vanishes.... whatīs going on?
NFTS wasnīt supposed to break the 4gb barrier???

Thanks in advance for any help....

    I don't know what's causing that but

NTFS=Max file 1 terrabyte I think, maybe higher.

NTFS will let you capture as much as you want, if u want a 4 gig limit, you need 1.) Fat32 2.) to set the program to break.

I don't think Cesar wants a 4Gb limit, Greg, I think he wants to know why his captured files are screwed up past the 4Gb point on a WinXP/NTFS system.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the programs mentioned... Can IUVCR and Huffyuv cope with files larger than 4Gb? It might not be an OS or filesystem problem; it might be that the software you're using can't handle files that big...?

  4. Off course i donīt want a 4gb limit, but thanks for trying to help anyway.
By the way, greg12 (or anybody that is interested), what capture program do you use & codec that you confirmed that can break the 4gb limit?

I use virtualdub with huffyuv or mjpeg on a NTFS partition, have had captures as large as 29GB in a single file, with no v/a synch probs at all. sounds like maybe a software problem. Try different apps and see what happens

    THat line threw me off.

I use DVIO which uses the MS Direct Show Codec. I also use Pinnicle 8 and occasionaly Adobe 6.5.

FOr editing, i use virtual dub, which reads DV when u have installed the Panasonic DV codec.

    perhaps we could see your

    Hard Drive Size and Speed
    CPU
    Ram
    Bus speed.

  7. I have an I/O Magic PC PVR card that captures directly to mpeg1 and mpeg2 and i've found that mpeg2 at 640x480 2500 kbps is usually a very good capture, and doesn't take up too much hard drive space. That's would keep your file sizes down. Or, alternatly, try pinnacle studio. the file sizes are huge, but I've never had a sync problem with it.
