  1. What's the deal with this DVD? I have ripped over two hundred DVDs and never had problem like this. The ripping process went smoothly. But the VOBs can't be decoded by DVD2AVI . When played on software player, picture and sound are totally a mess. Upon further investigation, Vts_01_1.vob and Vts_01_2.vob are bad, the remaining VOBs are perfect. There appear to be no serious scratches on the disc and it plays well on DVD player.

Is this some new scrambling technology that existing rippers can't deal with? Or is this a just bad disk? Anybody ripped and converted Goldfinger?

  4. sounds like bad ripping process....

if something like this happens, download the latest version of the ripping proggie (and try all of them: smartripper, dvddecryptor, claddvd)

as for as i know, dvd has only gone as far as changing the encryption key every vob id or every vob file (rather than a constant key throughout the vobs)

  5. I think Goldfinger is one of those dodgey DVDs that as others have stated, changes the encryption key at odd places.

Try using DVD Decrypter and set it to search for a new key at every new VOB ID and CELL ID.
