  1. I don't know very much about DVD Writers. All I am really interested in is copying DVDs for my friends and families. I already have a CD burner, so I don't need that in it. Can anyone suggest a good DVD Writer with which I can copy DVDs??

  2. Hmmm - you want to copy DVDs - that's ok for a personal backup copy. But making them for others, that's piracy.

If you want to be a pirate you can use most any drive. A good DVD-R drive, maybe by Pioneer like the A04/104 would work. The A05/105 is newer but will cost a bit more. The Sony DRU500A is highly prised for writing both - and + formats.

Make sure you put your name and address at the start of each copy so when your friends pass the copy around they know who did all that hard work.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  3. now, with one of these drives, which type of media would I use to burn a DVD. For example if I want to burn the Harry Potter Movie, what media would I use (DVD-R, DVD+R, ??)

  6. I use the Pioneer DVR-105 with Princo 1x DVD-R's. Obtained from www.allmediaoutlet.com 60cents ea. Burned 10 DVD's. No coasters. I have used Ulead DVD workshop and Nero to Burn.

Maybe you got a lemon. Sorry.
