  1. Hi,

I'm hoping someone can give me some pointers, but it may just be a bug with MF2.
    I have an Intel P4 1.9, XP, 512meg and a USB connected Sony DRU500A (Firmware upgraded from a DW-U10A).

I downloaded the trial version of MF2 and it cut several steps out of my previous routine - the results looked excellent to me. I parted with my $60 and bought the full version and have yet to make a single successful burn on it (made about 18 coasters though).

The authoring goes fine, when I get to the burn it either errors out partway though - or goes all the way to 100% burned (actual burning stops at about 5%) and hangs there....

If I choose to output to files from MF2, I can then burn those files to DVD using the NTI software that came with my drive. I know the burner works because other applications can use it fine. Here's some stuff I've tried:
    Upgraded my device/firmware to DRU500A v2.0G
Tried different USB ports, both 1.1 and 2.0
    Tried DVD-R and DVD+R discs
Checked my ASPI version (4.71.2) to make sure it's current
Outputted to file(s) structure to be sure I was under 4G in size (yes)
Updated MF2 with updates from Ulead page
Tested burner with Sony test utility, plus can use burner with other apps
    Uninstalled and re-installed MF2

I finally contacted Ulead tech support who emailed me a couple of steps to try, but they are things already suggested on the webboard on ulead.com. Frankly, I've already tried them but will try them again to give them every benefit of the doubt.

I see in some other posts where there are users who have the same drive using it fine with MF2. Did you need to do something special? Any special settings changes you needed to make? Anyone have any ideas for me?

    Thanks in advance,
    Tim

  2. When I first got my DRU-500A everything worked fine except my drive wasn't supported by my authorizing software. I found a software update then my authorizing software would work with my DVD burner. I was able to make a few disks then it started making costers like yours. I repaired the problem by reinstalling the application then running the update patch again. It worked for awhile then went out again. I believe I had installed someother programs that might of messed it up.

Now I simply author to dvd folder on hard drive then use my burning software from there without any problems. I usually run a RW copy first to check everything out then an R as the final cut. I've had good success using this routine.

There is so much software today that's not written very well and when one gets the right combination of hardware/software all those problems seems to show up. I think you are starting to understand what I'm saying.

    Good luck.

You don't really save any time by burning with MF2.
I use it and always make DVD folders and burn with another program.
One advantage is you can play your DVD files before you burn to
    check them.

  4. No matter how i've ever authored a dvd i've used another program to burn the discs (version 5.5.9.8. of nero which has always served me well on many stand alone players) and that's always been the better solution than burning direct from the authoring program.
I could dance with you till the cows came home..... on second thoughts i'd rather dance with the cows till you came home.

  5. Thanks all.

I guess I'll plan to burn with an app other than MF2.

    Thanks for your help!!
