I would like to take a short clip of a DVD movie and place myself into the movie using bluescreen. I do all my editing through Premier 6.5 so I am trying to figure out how to turn the short DVD clip into a format which can be imported into Premier. That format must be AVI or Quicktime and it should be 720 X 480. The final home movie will be burned to a DVD-R.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

My last request was a process to rip a dvd to my hard drive then extract a portion of the video for conversion to a 720 X 480 avi or Quicktime format. I need that format so I can import the video into Premier 6.5 suitable for a home dvd movie.

The method I have been using is making a backup of my personal dvd using DVD X Copy. I must make a backup because the original dvd will not let me proceed to the next step. I put my dvd backup in my home dvd player and run the dvd video out line to my camcorder. Then I can record the dvd to my camcorder and input the clip I want into Premier via firewire. Now I can use blue screen technique to add myself or whatever into the original dvd movie.

There is incredible genius out there in VCD Help land. Can someone lead me to a better way of bringing dvd movies into Premier, that does not involve recording the dvd to my camcorder?

    Thanks!

    Method:
    rip w/ smartripper/dvddecryptor
    decode w/ DVD2AVI

That'll give you the video files you need.
