i don't know if the problem is because of the xvid, but if i want to convert insomnia (2 cd, xvid with ac3 sound) everything goes wrong, sometimes tmpgenc just closes itself after 2 seconds or so of encoding, and sometimes is crashes.. just stops doing anything, and sometimes i get the error message "invalid pointer operation"... but other times everything just goes well..
what could be the cause of this? is it the xvid? is it my processor (an AMD athlon xp 1900 +) or could it be something else?
i use tmpgenc 2.59.47.155 (the lates version from the site) (maybe it's this version that causes the problems, because i never had it with older versions, but i also never encoded an xvid.. ) and i encode it to an mpg 1 video, 720 X 576, 25 fps, and with constant quality, but i also tried constant bitrate with diffrent bitrates, but they all give these problems...
i use windows 2000
i hope someone can help me...

Your DivX is probably corrupt. You could either try repairing it (see DivXFix in the TOOLS section to the left), or frame serving it to get around the problem. This assumes that you can still use TMPGenc with other avi's without issue.
