  1. I realize that this is about as off topic as you can get, but I really don't know of any other forums or sites that would be able to help me. Anyway, here's the problem:

I've got an avi on my computer that a friend wants me to send to him. the problem is, his harddrive space is really limited and he's still using dialup, so sending a 700 meg file isn't really an option. (I can't burn it and give it to him because he moved a few states away). Anyway, I got the bright idea that instead of sending him the avi, I would turn it into a RealMedia file and send that to him instead. Yes, I know the quality is crap, but its a smaller file and he'd still be able to see it. So I went online and looked up how to do it; the only real helpful site I found is this: http://slim.emporia.edu/resource/real_producer/convert.htm

I got RealProducer Plus 8.51 and did as the tutorial said, but when I went to play the file, I had audio but no video. (It didn't show the video as it was being encoded in either the input or output boxes) I tried a few different files after that, to make sure it wasn't just something about the file, and they all turned out te same. One was divx and the others were div3.

I was just wondering if any of you would have any idea how I could fix this. I tried going through the help files that came with the software and I came up with nothing.

  2. When you say send it to him, do you mean email, if so forget about it. Most service providers have a limit on the size of email you can send or recieve, usually only a few MB. I would suggest burning it and posting it to him.

  4. Rather than hours of frustration on dial-up, just post it to him on CD! Sometimes the low tech solutions are the best!
