Does anyone have any experience with multitasking while burning DVD-R at 2X on the Sony DRU-500A or any other DVD burner for that matter? Wondering if I'm going to get a corrupt burn or buffer underrun. According to my calculations, this would be about the equivalent of burning about 16X on CD-R, not unreasonable. I'm running a 1.6 P4 with 684MB DDR @266MHz and I'm running out of time till Xmas and would like to do things like print and dl graphics while burning. I'd like to anyone elses experience with multitasking while burning DVD.

  2. Mutitasking works great. I play movies, mp3's browse the internet and even play games. These burners are great because they have burn proof technology. But even better the sony dru500a and yamaha bruners have 8meg buffers. Meaning the burn proof technology is pretty much never used because unless you are doing something to occupy your cpu's total time it should always be able to supply the buffer with plenty of data. I have not burned any bad dvd or cd because of buffer underuns in years.
