  1. Hi guys, up until now i have been doing svcd and vcd in the not so standard way and knew that my dvd player could play beyond svcd and vcd, meaning xvcd and xsvcd. The light bulb in my head didnt turn on until now . so now im trying to find good TMPGEnc templates for these two formats as i want to take my encoding skills to the next level. please let me know if u guys out there have any :P ......thanx in advance!!!

Please don't hijack topics. This is about SVCD no dvd ripping. Post a new topic instead.

  6. What about CVD as an alternative to SVCD? I now use a variation of CVD to give 1/2 DVD resolution and bitrate (CQ coding at 352x576 with 2000 min and 4000 max at CQ99, audio at 48k). This gives excellent results on any TV (not as clear as DVD on a PC monitor) and gives 30 mins of video per CD-R disc.

Yep, I've been converted to CVD too Use it pretty much all the time now. With 48k audio, it is also a valid DVD format so in future you can burn it straight to DVD without re-encoding, so a nice bonus to it as well!

This is by no means the definitive NTSC CVD template! In fact I've only just made it as I use PAL There are so many different variables to play around with, but this should give pleasing results for a start. Read this thread:

    And this one:

For a better understanding of the format... and good luck!
