I dont understand the guides on this program and wondered if anyone can explain this better. My video_ts folder is 5 gigs so i thought i would transcode VTS_01_1 to see if i could squeeze it in a DVDR. I open the VTS_01_1 file in rempeg2 and it read it theni hit Enocde and took about 2 hours to finish. Now i have a 707mb file. Not sure what type of file it is cause when i right click and choose properties it shows 'file type - file'. Now what do i do with this file? do i caonvert it to a vob? im confused please help!

  3. I think you should check for www.doom9.org and read the DVD guides. It is all explained.

Just a faster and very basic explanation:

First - use DVD Decrypter or Smartripper to rip the film to your hard disk
    * must make the demux to the film and the sound files. At the end you will get some xxxxx.m2v (movie file) and a xxxxx.ac3 file (sound file)

(check the guide to learn how to do it)

Second - use a bitrate calculater (download it from doom9 site) and just calculate the % value of the bitrate

Third - Open the xxxxx.m2v file in rempeg and and configure the rempeg to "match the source", resolution 720x and the % value of the bitrate that you calculated in the second step.

Fourth - In the final (in my atlhon xp 1800 it takes 6hours) i will have a new .m2v

Fifth - Use the DVD maestro and import the new .m2v file, the ac3 file and the subtitles if you want. Configure the movie to 4x3 or 16x9 has you wish and the First Play section to run the first chapter of the film (dont forget this final step or the film will not run in the end). Compile the film

(to rip the subtitles use the program subrip 1.14)

Sixth - At the end test the compiled film with powerdvdxp 4.

In the doom9 site you get all the detailed steps in guides.
