I have a xvid file I am converting but when I poen it in virtual dubb under the file info it lists the frame rate as 23.976 But when I start a new prject in tmpg, It comes up as 30 fps. Which one should I use? I have already treid converting the file as a vcd using ntsc film, But when I play it back on my dvd player the video will jump ahead and then the audio will catch up. It does this for the entire movie. The vcd plays fine on my computer.
Could this be because virtual dubb was giving me the wrong frame rate?
Now im trying to convert it to xsvcd.
Any help would be welcome!!

most likely you need to fix the audio, it could be variable bit rate and you need to make it constant bitrate

When I extracted it from the avi I used virtual dubb. When encoding I thought the variable bitrate didnt matter. By the way I forgot to tell you that the file originally had ac3 audio and I followed the steps from the guides to convert it into a wav. But after it was converted I noticed the the wav was 48000 hz, eventhough in headac3he it should have been converted to 44100 hz.
The weired thing is Ive tried encoding a 3 min clip with both the NTSC and NTSCfilm template and both look equaly as good there is no jerkyness and no sync problems in either case. -
I tried reincoding the audio from 48000hz to 44100hz using goldwave but there was no difference in the outcome. The vcd still played funny on my dvd player.
