I looked for an hour and a half, and I came up with these sites. If anyone knows where to get one for preferrably under 325 online, please let me know. But I would be happy with any price at all under 350. THe 399 is ridiculous i think for something other people are offering at 310. Thanks

on pricewatch.com the price is $330 + and they are out of stock as well. I checked like 3 days ago cause I want to get one myself. I checked most of the big stores in Manhattan and they are out as well.

This drive is almost impossible to find right now.

Please advise what can be done. Are there any places there that do have that.

ALso I checked pcworld.com and sites mentioned there do have it in stock, just make sure you read all the info they give ya. Cause all of them say that it's going to be shipped in 2+ weeks, and some mention that they do backorders untill mid December.

I read it somewhere that sony is not releasing the drive
until Dec 15 (aprox)
because, they want to update the firm ware to 1.0E
which allows it to write to 4X
currently the max speed it support is 2.4X

There is a local CompUSA store that has it, but I have a 10% off coupon for Best Buy that lasts until 01/31/03 and I want to use it. I'll just wait.

pricewatch.com and streetprices.com were the first places i looked. I guess i'll just wait for the upgraded firmware ones to come out this weekend.

I bought Pioneer A05 from JandR
I'll exchange it though when sony dru500a is going to be received in their stores.

I also found out that there are some shipping delays in US-south, therefore stores might get the shipments little later thean anticipated.

i have been searching all over for the DRU-500A but nowhere with a reasonable price. I also check with Sony, they said that the new model is going to be exactly the same with just the new firmware 1.0f which enable 4x DVD+R write. That I can do through the web.
