  1. Im new to this, I would like to make DVD+R or DVD+R/W copies of my kids DVD movies so that my originals don't get scratched. Im looking for simply software to do this and Im wondering if DVDXCOPY is simple to use. I hate to spend $99.00us and can't make copys, I have a HP 200j Burner and a LITEON DVD-Rom Drive, P4, 2.4 Mhz, 512 Ram, Win XP Pro, 80 Gig hard drive. Please advise

  2. My first attempt was last night and although it takes a while (45 minutes read, 20-25 2X burn PER disc), it really can't be any easier. The left side of the display has a step-by-step tutorial, but it is really just "one button" copying. They still have several bugs to work out, but it has greatly improved over a short time and will only get better. They have free lifetime upgrades, so you'll always have the most recent copy without having to buy a new version.

I was pretty happy with the results once complete.

PS I only have a DVD-RW drive, so you would likely read and burn faster with two drives.

  3. Here's my 2 cents, since I'm about 2 weeks new into this too and have the same goals as you have stated.

If you have above average computer skills and are up to learning several new programs, then save your $99 and read the guides and forums on this site and you can accomplish your goals with just freeware.

If you want the easy way out, then DVDxCopy does work and it's easy to work with.

I personally bought DVDxCopy and have backed up about 10 DVD's using a Sony DRU500a. Now I am learning how to backup WITHOUT DVDxCopy and using freeware, because I want a movie on 1 DVD and not 2.

Hope that helps. Good luck in your decision.
