  1. Here is my setup. Burner is a Pioneer dvr-104, pc is a p4 running win XP, media i am burning to are cheap:

    http://store.yahoo.com/cdrdvdrmedia/higqual47dvm6.html

but they are rated as compliant media for my burner. My DVD player is a Toshiba SD-3750, which claims to be DVDr compatible. I use Virtualdub to "save wav" and then I use TMPGenc to encode. The movies I am using are .avi with 23.97fps. I simply enter my avi in the video portion, and my .wav in the audio portion. I then select DVD NTSC 4:3 with the CBR Linear PCM audio and then I don't make any other changes other than make the movie as big as possible without going over the limit.

I then use Ulead DVD workshop trial to burn. I just click new project, import my newly created mpeg and burn it.

What I come up with every time is a DVDr that plays fine on my PC using powerDVD and plays on my friend's stand alone DVD player. When I try to play it on my stand alone DVD player the picture is perfect, the audio is in sync, but it goes out for a split second sporadically. I want to scream every time I think I have found a new tweak or something I am doing wrong only to find it does the same thing.

    Please help me.

  2. Try different disc, get a Memorex, Verbatim or TDK

    http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=289738

    or

    http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=11182369&m=887&cat=2843&scat=2845

And if you normaly put sticky lables on, try without
it as if it is not on perfect the disc may woble.
As some DVD players are more sensitive than others
when it comes to loosing laser focus due to woble.

  3. Thank you for your suggestion. I hope that my media isn't the problem, because I ordered fifty of them, hehehe. I will go by bestbuy and pick up a few Memorex to see if that helps.

  6. Well, I tried new media (Memorex) and that did not work. I still come out with a movie that has the sound go out for a split second sporadically. I also have asked more friends to try out my DVDr's and the only person that the sound goes out on is me. So, I'm thinking it is my DVD player. This brings me to my latest batch of questions.

    1. Has anyone ever had any success with the Toshiba sd-3750 and DVDr's?
    2. Is there any type of setting for my DVD that may be causing this?
    3. I see people talking about regions, is that something I need to be looking at?
    4. Is there any way it could be the software (encoding/burning) related?
    5. Does God hate me?

  7. IT WORKS! IT WORKS! I changed the setting on my DVD player to PCM or something like that, and they all work now. Thank you all for your help.

Same situation here friend. Went to the Pioneer website---and you cannot use any DVD media. They have a list of MANUFACTURER specific media that can and should be used. Also---they have a patch that must be used with the Pioneer drive you have. I have had enough frustration as well with my exact same Pioneer drive. I am packing up my whole system and returning it to Best Buy this afternoon. I have been advised by the staff to get XXX software program after program. $400+ later in software and media....I am through. Good Luck on your drive!
    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

  10. christ your problem with media and pioneer is not in the software, pioneers "patch" as you call it is a firmware update that removed certian media types from work correctly or at all with the ao4 ao3. theres ways of fixing your problem.
